Guidelines
Use these as a baseline; always cross‑check with your local building code and manufacturer specs.
1. Site Preparation
- Verify survey benchmarks and property lines are staked and documented.
- Soil report reviewed; bearing capacity and groundwater noted.
- Erosion & sediment control (ESC) installed: silt fence, inlet protection, track‑out pad.
- Utility locates complete and visibly marked.
- Access roads compacted; turning radius for deliveries verified.
2. Concrete & Masonry
- Rebar size, grade, spacing match drawings; chairs maintain cover per exposure class.
- Mix design submittal approved; delivery tickets checked for water addition.
- Slump and air tests documented; cylinders molded and cured per ASTM C31.
- Construction joints, keyways, and dowels placed per shop drawings.
- Curing method selected (membrane, wet cure); protect from freeze/rapid drying.
3. Framing
- Stud grade and crown orientation consistent; top/bottom plates anchored.
- Headers sized per span; shear walls nailed per schedule, hold‑downs torqued.
- Truss layout matches engineered drawings; bearing points shimed; lateral bracing installed.
- Penetrations through structural members comply with notch/boring limits.
4. MEP Rough‑In
- HVAC duct sizing per Manual D; joints sealed; insulation R‑value verified.
- Plumbing DWV slope 2% min; cleanouts accessible; pressure test documented.
- Electrical box fill, conductor ampacity, AFCI/GFCI per code; panel schedules labeled.
- Firestopping around penetrations per tested assemblies (UL systems) with labels.
5. Envelope & Insulation
- WRB shingled correctly with proper laps; flashing at all openings.
- Window/door installation per manufacturer; sill pan and corner seals verified.
- Air sealing: top plates, rim joists, penetrations; blower‑door target documented.
- Insulation R‑values & installation grade recorded (Grade I target).
6. Interior Finishes
- Drywall screw spacing; control joints; level 4/5 finish specs set by area.
- Tile substrates flatness; membranes; expansion joints; ANSI A108 adherence.
- Paint system (primer + coats) and sheen per room use; humidity/temperature controlled.
7. Site Safety (H&S)
- Daily JHA/Toolbox talks logged; PPE and access control enforced.
- Fall protection for edges & openings; ladders/scaffolds inspected.
- Lockout/Tagout for energized work; hot‑work permit process active.
